The Paparazzi
About the Show
When Christie Barnes arrives in New York from Kansas, her dream is to write thoughtful, meaningful stories for the New York Times. Unfortunately, the only job she can get is writing for the New York Beacon, the city's most notorious tabloid. What starts as a short-term assignment transforms into something quite different as Christie is seduced by the bright lights and star power of celebrities, abandoning her principles and embracing the world of the paparazzi with profound, unforeseen consequences. Narrated by the ghost of legendary gossip columnist Walter Winchell, the musical charts Christie's moral descent with a bouncy, jazzy score.
A new original musical with music and lyrics by Peabody Award winner Al Tapper and book by Tony Sportiello, directed by Nancy Robillard with musical direction by David Wolfson. The cast features Brogan Nelson as Christie, PJ Cirino as Winchell, and Dan Olson in a standout turn as a world-weary photographer. Presented at AMT Theater.
