About the Show
Four highly gifted teenagers collaborate and collide during one pivotal summer at a prestigious girls' music program in Berkeley. They improvise, crack wise, and navigate their own tangled relationships while disaster and emergency hum steadily beneath the surface. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Eisa Davis (Bulrusher) and directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon, this world premiere play with music is a co-production between Vineyard Theatre and American Conservatory Theater. The cast features Gianna DiGregorio Rivera, Hillary Fisher, Naomi Latta, and Yeena Sung, with live music and improvisatory elements unique to each performance.
Davis, a singular writer, musician, and actor who appeared in the original Broadway cast of Passing Strange, draws on her own formative years in UC Berkeley's Young Musicians Program to craft a story that is by turns hilarious and melancholy, raucous and poetic. The production, which premiered at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater before transferring to New York, marks MacKinnon's final show as A.C.T.'s Artistic Director.
Special Performances: LGBTQ+ Night (5/15), Mask-Required (5/17), Maker Night (5/20), Under 40 Night (5/21), ASL-Interpreted & BIPOC Night (dates TBD), Post-Show Discussions throughout run.
